Lecture and workshop proposals
We are now accepting workshop and lecture proposals for the 2018 Conference.
Workshops are 50-minute sessions. They include interaction and discussion between participants and the facilitator, practical activities with a resource or stimulus and a clear sense of purpose and outcomes. Participants should leave with practical materials for classroom use.
Lectures are 50-minute sessions that will normally include a 40-minute presentation and 10 minutes of question time. Lectures have clear objectives and lecturers generally leave notes or a PowerPoint on the Conference web pages.
Call for papers on research into geographical education
The GA's 2018 Annual Conference in Sheffield will include a series of sessions focusing on and reporting recent research into geographical education.
There is scope within the sessions for papers on different types of research, for example action research into teacher's own practice, ethnographic classroom research or research into particular aspects of curriculum or assessment.
The papers should be relevant to teachers of geography in primary or secondary schools or in FE colleges, as well as fellow researchers in the field of geography education. Research paper sessions are 20 minutes long, with 5 minutes for questions.
If you are interested in presenting a paper reporting your research, please send an abstract of no more than 200 words to Lucy Oxley by 29 September 2017.
We are currently seeking students and NQTs to present Teacher-to-Teacher sessions at the 2018 GA Annual Conference.
These innovative, 20-minute sessions offer you a unique opportunity for professional conversation about what you do best. The GA encourages less formal exchange of teaching ideas and experiences and wants to ensure that students and NQTs have a chance to share and celebrate their often innovative and stimulating materials with other teachers.
