This course explores those aspects of the new GCSE specifications which teachers have told us they are finding difficult to teach. Covering core aspects common to all specifications it considers innovative teaching ideas and the importance of embedding skills throughout the curriculum.

Aims and outcomes
- Share and explore innovative teaching ideas for teaching about the UK and landscapes
- Consider the challenges of tackling numerical skills and discuss solutions
- Discuss how to prepare students for fieldwork after controlled assessment
09.00-09.30: Arrival and refreshments
09.30-11.00: Session 1 – Exploring the Geography of the UK
11.15-12.30: Session 2 – Teaching about landscapes
13.15-14.15: Session 3 – Tackling numerical skills
14.30-15.15: Session 4 – Fieldwork after controlled assessment
15.15-15.30: Next steps
