Networking through the GA

Click on each event in the calendar to see more details.

The GA was founded over 125 years ago by geography teachers who wanted to connect with each other and networking remains at the core of what we are and what we do.

There are many different ways in which geography educators can network through the GA but the 2021 national research report, The professional needs and views of teachers of geography (January 2022), listening exercise suggested that people don’t always know how to access these networks. Therefore, we are aiming to make opportunities more visible by highlighting networks through the GA website, newsletters and social media.

If you would like to publicise your networking opportunity in this way, please provide the information requested in the form below.

Priority will be given to GA network events that meet the following criteria. However, if your network isn’t part of the GA or doesn’t meet these criteria, but is organising a free event for geography teachers, then please do complete the form and we’ll be in touch.

GA network events are:

GA network events are not:

  • events run by other organisations where GA members are invited to attend
  • events run by other organisation where the GA has a stand or speaking slot
  • partner or joint events where the GA network isn’t the only organiser.

The first 100 eligible network events that are received after 1 September 2022 will be able to claim a legacy package of £100 each to support their networking event. Find out about the Sheila Jones Legacy Fund here.
