Australian Outback Conversations with Students

Assessment

Each student is provided with a planning sheet to be completed by the end of the assignment. Sections are allocated for self/peer/teacher assessment. Positive comments are recorded together with a strategy (mission statement) to move each student forward with their next assignment.

A teacher comment bank to support the student’s development of geographical knowledge, understanding and skills is utilised. Parents/guardians are asked to review the assignment before submission and sign (with comment if desired) to say that they have seen the piece of work.

A National Curriculum level is awarded. The NC level/positive comments/mission statement are recorded by each student on their personal record card and stored in their portfolio. This supports the intention of moving students forward through target setting. Portfolios are stored centrally.
