Feedback from students

The students enjoyed the unit of work and developed many skills and a greater understanding of their local area. Here are the outcomes of the unit of work:

  • I can show where I live on a map or aerial photo
  • I can use words to describe where I live: town, village, near…, I pass…, area/ward, Street, Road
  • I can describe where Barrow Bridge is on a digital, paper, self-made map
  • I can ask and answer questions based on what I already know and what I want to find out about Barrow Bridge
  • I can find out the answer by looking at primary and secondary information
  • I can give my opinion about the quality of the environment and about Barrow Bridge now, then and in the future
  • I can show on my own map the journey I took
  • I can answer questions about people who have shaped the place I live in today
  • I can consider the future in someone else’s shoes
