GA to create KS3 curriculum resources for Oak National Academy

The GA has been announced as one of Oak National Academy’s curriculum partners for the next wave of subjects. The Association will work with Oak to produce high-quality, KS3 geography resources for schools across the country, based on a curriculum sequence devised by the GA. These will build on resources that the GA is developing for KS1 and KS2. All materials will be completely optional and available free of charge, via the Oak National Academy website. There are more details in the full announcement from Oak.

As with the other subject areas and phases announced by Oak, the KS3 geography curriculum sequence and initial resources will be available on the Oak platform from the autumn term of 2024, with materials being rolled out throughout the school year. A full package of curriculum materials is due to be completed by September 2025.

GA Chief Executive, Steve Brace, said:

“The GA is delighted to have been selected to provide the KS3 Geography programme for Oak Academy. As Ofsted identified in their 2023 ‘Getting Our Bearings’ inspection report, there is the need for additional professional support for geography teachers, especially if they do not have a geographical subject specialist background. Our new KS3 resources for Oak will help address this need and also add to our existing programme of work with Oak to support geography at KS1 and KS2.”
