Geographical Association Trustees

We are delighted to announce that the following individuals will become Trustees of the Geographical Association from 1 September 2022, serving an initial 3 year term:

  • James Esson – Co-opted Trustee

James is a Reader in Human Geography at Loughborough University and holds a range of leadership and governance roles. James’ research on children’s rights and safeguarding has been supported by UNICEF, and his expertise in learning and teaching has been recognised nationally and internationally.

  • Lawrence Bates – Co-opted Trustee

Lawrence has over ten years’ non-executive experience as a Trustee and School Governor in Peterborough, along with extensive experience in senior marketing, income generation and strategy development. He has held roles in the public and private sector as well as a national membership organisation.

  • Anthony Barlow – Elected Trustee

Anthony is a Principal Lecturer and the subject leader for Geography Education at the University of Roehampton. He is a member of the Early Years and Primary Committee of the GA having been Chair and Co-Chair for more than seven years.

 

The GA would like to wholeheartedly thank outgoing Trustees Tariq Jazeel and Kathryn Stephenson whose terms end on 31 August 2022.
