As per all the GA’s Committees and Special Interest Groups, the Publications Board is a sub-committee of the Education Group and subject to the statutes and standing orders of the Geographical Association.
The GA Publications Board is responsible for strategic development of GA publications. Board members work with the GA Head of Publishing and the GA editorial team to oversee the publications output, a significant income stream of the GA. This includes:
- ensuring that the GA publishes a range of resources, in the most appropriate form, covering all phases
- keeping abreast of curriculum change and being aware of the changes that are happening in schools and their evolving needs, in order to inform publishing decision making
- reviewing and revising the GA Publications Strategy
- developing commercial and educational projects with other educational publishers to broaden the range and appeal of current and projected resources.
The Chair of the Board is invited to the meetings of the Education Group, providing a valuable link between the Board and the wider GA.
The Publications Board currently comprises:
- Julia Tanner (Chair)
- David Balderstone
- Bob Digby
- John Hopkin
- Gemma Pollard
