Teaching geography lessons

‘The what, the how and the why of teaching is always up for grabs. There is no one ‘proper’ way of learning: there are no ‘self-evident’ goals of education. Instead there are only ever choices about what to teach, how to teach and to what ends’

Castree, 2005

This section is not just about teaching good lessons, but good geography lessons. As the quote says, there are lots of choices and decisions that need to be made about what you teach and how you teach in your lessons. In this section we focus on objective-led planning for geography lessons. But enquiry-led planning is equally important for geography and you can find out about this at Planning for geographical enquiry.
