Leading Primary Geography: The essential handbook for all teachers
Don’t be fooled by the title, this is the definitive guide for all teachers of primary geography. The book offers:
- a carefully considered approach to planning for, and delivering, outstanding geography across the primary age range, in and outside the classroom
- a clear statement of what constitutes outstanding primary geography and a rationale for geography’s place in the primary curriculum.
The GA has three professional journals containing articles describing practical approaches and subject knowledge updates.

As an experienced teacher you might still find yourself teaching an unfamiliar geographical theme as a result of a change in year group or school.
In The Know is a sereies of specially designed titles to support primary teachers in developing the background knowledge required to teach core geographical themes and processes taught within the primary phase. The GA Annual Conference is the perfect opportunity to learn from teachers through workshops, lectures and networking but a chance for you to lead a session, thereby deepening your learning and understanding.
A Geographical Association CPD course will inspire you to think differently about an aspect of geography that you have been successfully teaching for years. It might prompt you to consider different viewpoints, challenge you to try a different approach to learning and suggest connections that help build learning in a more interesting and memorable way.
