The Geographical Association is looking for an individual to chair its trustee board, known as Governing Body.
This is a newly created role, with an initial term of three years starting in September 2020.
We welcome applications from individuals who support our aim of furthering knowledge and understanding of geography through education and who have the requisite skills and experience to provide inclusive leadership to the Governing Body.
Current GA President, Gill Miller had this to say about the role:
“This is an exciting time to be leading the GA. We are about to embark upon a new 5-year strategic plan which will maintain the relevance of the GA as the ‘trusted voice’ of geography education. We have a committed Governing Body and senior leadership team who work hard to support our growing membership. We are looking for a Chair with suitable experience who has energy and vision, and a passion for our mission to further geographical knowledge and understanding through education. Although not necessarily a geographer by profession, our new Chair will espouse the values we uphold and feel able to support and advocate in behalf of all geography educators.”
The position is not remunerated, but travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed.
