This year the inaugural Ordnance Survey Award for Primary Geography was presented to All Souls’ C of E Primary School, Rochdale.
On behalf of All Souls’ pupils and teachers their Y5 and Y6 Subject Leads for Geography – Nia and Oliver – accepted this award from Darren Bailey, the OS’s Schools Programme Manager, and Steve Brace, CEO Geographical Association.
All Souls highlight the importance of geography saying ‘We are all geographers. We want our pupils to appreciate geography and the world. We want them to have no limits to what their ambitions are and grow up wanting to be cartographers, town planners, conservationists or weather forecasters.’
Lisa Pearson, Head Teacher at All Souls said ‘We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award, which is a testament to the passion, creativity, and hard work of our staff and pupils. Our geography curriculum is all about inspiring curiosity about the world, and it’s wonderful to see that recognised beyond school. This achievement reflects our commitment to providing meaningful, engaging learning that connects our children to the wider world.’

Each year a winner for the Ordnance Survey Award will be selected from primary schools who have been awarded the Geographical Associations’ Gold Primary Geography Quality Mark.
