The Geographical Association International Special Interest Group and Flooglebinder are pleased to share this comprehensive set of place study resources, created by the teachers that attended the GA Study Tour 2024.
The Azores are a geographical utopia that are not often seen in textbooks or taught about in classrooms, yet they are home to a plethora of classic yet idiosyncratic examples of key physical and human processes. In fact the archipelago is so geographical it has been designated by UNESCO as a geopark!
This resource is designed to be used in secondary school classrooms at key stages 3 to 5 and provides a mix of off-the-shelf, adaptable and differentiated resources that foster a range of geographical knowledge and skills development.
In celebration of the 2025 GA Annual Conference theme of ‘connected geographies’ we wanted to provide an in-depth resource that be used across the curriculum so that students get a better sense and understanding of the Azores as a complex place that is home to a wide range of physical and human geographical characteristics.
This resource was curated for The Geographical Association and Flooglebinder by Amy Case and Flooglebinder, with contributions from Amy Case, Blanche Brewer, Helen Chalmers, Victoria Lane, India Owens and Ben Platts-Wade.
