The first National Geography Olympiad will be held during a special fortnight: Monday 9 November – Friday 20 November 2026. It will be free to enter.

Please submit your suggested questions for the next National Geography Olympiad in the form below.

Please only submit one question at a time and the four responses you think we should include: one correct answer and three incorrect answers. Please make incorrect answers sensible and potential answers (nothing ‘funny’ or ‘obviously wrong’); we want a genuine one in four thought process for each question.

We invite questions that will push A level geographers and show the subject to be academically rigorous. A decision was made very early in the process not to be including any trivia style geography knowledge questions (flags, capitals, longest rivers, name this country etc).

Part of the design of the Olympiad is that students will get instant feedback at the end of the Olympiad; outlining why every question’s answer is what it is (and, where appropriate, why the other responses were wrong). This aims to teach students more about the geographies they’ve been engaging with, so the process of formative as well as summative. Please also enter the feedback as you would like the students to see it. This should be 1-4 sentences in length.

The Olympiad will run every November, you are free to submit questions for the next one at any time.
