WorldWise Week (WWW) is a time when schools can undertake activities – in the classroom or as fieldwork –  that focus on a particular geographical theme or issue. There is a downloadable pack of resources to support teachers and provide suggestions and resources for activities for students at all key stages and abilities. The activities are all linked to the current year’s Presidential theme and can be downloaded free of charge. The resources are for use either during the designated WWW or at any other time that may be more convenient for your school.

How to contribute

Simply download the current year’s WorldWise Week resources from this page. We would like to see examples of students’ work showing their engagement with the current year’s WW theme. These can be submitted to us here at the GA (please email details or provide school website links to specifying which key stages your submitted work relates to. Entries received by the end of December each year from the KS3/4 category can be used in support of demonstrating your school’s engagement with WorldWise, with a view to the possibility of your school progressing to take part in a future WorldWise Challenge weekend.

When is WorldWise Week and what is this year’s theme?

The nominated WWW week is during the last complete school week of June each year. Each year’s WWW has a theme that runs through all of the suggested activities. You can still use the WWW resources from previous years (see below).

The 2022 theme is ‘Everyday Geographies’

WorldWise Week takes place from 20–24 June this year. The theme is Everyday Geographies; it explores our everyday connections and everyday life and the geography that sits behind it. ‘We are all living geography. Our diurnal routines connect us with places, people, environments and cultures. Repeated exposure means we sometimes forget how significant these are in shaping our identity and impacting the planetary emergency we all face’.  Alan Parkinson, GA President 2021–22.
