GERSIG Application Form

Geography Education Research Special Interest Group (GERSIG) is one of the volunteer groups of the Geographical Association, who support the work of teachers through resources, support guides and presenting at conference.

GERSIG invites new members from across educational phases to join the group. If you are interested in geography education research, as a reader, teacher, beginner or experienced researcher and hold GA membership (individual or organisational), we encourage you to contribute to GERSIG’s work. This is a voluntary: members meet online 3 times a year and complete other work in teams between meetings. The time commitment varies but is probably an average of an hour a week over the whole year.

The group organised a wide range of activities during 2022-23, for example: a ‘Supporting research writing’ session at annual conference; ‘Developing your classroom research’ online CPD sessions; research writing workshops and maintaining the research resource library on the GA website.

The GA is actively committed to the promotion of diversity and inclusion, and is seeking to enhance the diversity of our committees. GERSIG welcomes applications from all sections of the community, and encourages applications in particular from people in underrepresented groups.

Further information about the activities and responsibilities of the members can be obtained from Susan Pike (Chair).
